Hill Country Art by Life Water

LIFE Water has paired up with artists in Texas to paint barns and raise awareness for the importance of arts education.

One of my favorite art murals was by Houston artist, @AnaMarietta just across from Hruskas on the way to Austin.

Some of the other participating artists are @JasonEtherly, @JoeraelNumina, @Zuzubee

Looking back at 2018

This is my 1 year anniversary of relaunching my website to include a blog and much more content than my standard portfolio sites in the past. In addition to relaunching my website, 2018 has been a prolific year for me as I taught more than 100 yoga classes, launched 10 new websites, left the US for the first time in a decade, and won Emerging Business Leader award by Houston Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs (HYPE).

Looking back at the year is one of my favorite ways to bring in the new year. The memories in the past remind me of good times and what I want to continue to bring into my life. Here are some of my favorite highlights of 2018.

Winter 2018

January

Started off cold with a trip to the family to Cleveland Ohio. We chased frozen waterfalls, visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and lived to tell the stories.

…For those that say it never snows in Houston…

Mini Murals wins a grant by Houston First to start Mini Murals Tours.

It’s been a great year being able to work with UP Art Studio to help the Mini Murals project grow to over 200 boxes in Houston, expand to Austin, and launch Mini Murals Tours where people can ride around Houston to view and learn more about the Mini Murals and the artists behind the boxes.

Depressed Cake Shop by The Montrose Center
depressed-cake-shop- 10.jpg

This was my first time to the Depressed Cake Shop. Loving people donated cakes and treats that are somber grays, blues and black to “signify the gray cloud that can descend over a beautiful world when someone is struggling with mental help issues.” The event was by Name Walks Greater Houston and Montrose Center.

How beautiful are these cakes below?

Traveling to NW Arkansas

I spent the past weekend taking my first trip to Northwest Arkansas. Some of my highlights included Crystal Bridges, Art from 21C, my first Razorback experience, and very kind people.

Gibson Hall joins The Home Depot as Senior Manager of UX

This is my obligatory post talking about how excited I am to join The Home Depot, especially their UX Department. I’m joining as Senior Manager of UX, leading a team of UX Designers and Researchers to improve the shopping experience for Home Depot customers.

IMG_1355.jpg

Some recent highlights by Home Depot’s UX:

L2 cites homedepot.com as the 3rd best experience out of all retailers
https://www.l2inc.com/research/big-box-u-s

Baymard ranks homedepot.com as the 2nd best experience
https://baymard.com/ux-benchmark/case-studies/home-depot

I’m looking forward from leading from the best and inspiring the UX team to continue pushing the limits of what’s possible to give our users the best experience possible.

#MFAHAfterHours #BigBambuMFAH

I walked through the #bigbambumfah last night thanks for Museum of Fine Arts Houston and their Social Media Ambassadorship program. The event is up for a few months and the museum is free on Thursdays.
